Introduction

Ajou University foresaw the advent of the IT-driven future and, in a pioneering move, established Korea’s first College of Information and Communication in 1997. In 2025, responding proactively to the rising demand for talent in advanced technology sectors and to evolving educational needs, the college was relaunched as the College of ICT Convergence. The college now comprises three departments-Electrical and Computer Engineering, Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering, and Mobility Engineering-with over 50 faculty members, 200 graduate students, and 1,200 undergraduate students.

Building upon its foundation in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the College of ICT Convergence has expanded to include cutting-edge programs in Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering and Mobility Engineering, enabling broader academic offerings and greater research capacity. This synergy has laid the foundation for the college to grow into a globally competitive institution at the forefront of advanced ICT. With a commitment to robust, hands-on education across all areas of IT, we aim to cultivate future leaders who possess both engineering expertise and a broad, strategic perspective.

Each department offers a specialized curriculum tailored to the demands of its field. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides a structured education across three domains-D (Device, Circuit), N (Network, Communication, Signal, Wave), and S (System, Control, Robot, Energy, AI/Multimedia, Computer)-integrating theory with practical lab work. The Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering focuses on educational innovation aligned with the latest needs of the semiconductor industry, nurturing highly skilled professionals. The Department of Mobility Engineering specializes in Smart, Embedded, and Connected Mobility, offering interdisciplinary programs that address the next generation of mobility technologies. In addition to academic excellence, the college emphasizes experiential learning. It offers diverse internship programs that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world industry settings. Intensive major courses during academic breaks further support in-depth exploration of core subjects. To enhance students' global competencies, the college also operates a wide range of international programs: visits to the CES in Las Vegas (the world’s largest tech trade show), global mobility training in partnership with top institutions such as the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and corporate field trips to leading companies in China and Japan. Partial scholarships are provided to participants to support their overseas experience.

Aligned with Ajou University’s vision of “Creating Value and Innovation to Shape the Future,” the College of ICT Convergence is dedicated to nurturing world-class talent that will lead the global ICT industry through excellence in education and research.
